The best movies and TV shows to stream this weekend

There’s a lot of content available across Australia’s streaming services, with new TV shows and movies being added to Netflix and Stan regularly. Because of this, settling on something to watch each weekend can be somewhat daunting.

And, with the recent arrival of Amazon Prime Video to Australia, we can add a even more weekend streaming options to our list! 

To make your weekend streaming session as smooth and relaxing as possible, we’ve taken the liberty of highlighting the best new content added to Netflix, Stan and Amazon Prime Video this week.

So grab some popcorn, invite some friends over and get ready for an awesome weekend of non-stop streaming. Because really, going outside is for suckers.

Snatch: Directed by Guy Ritchie (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Snatch is  a rollicking British gangster comedy that features unlicensed boxing, bookies, unintelligible Gypsies, diamond thieves and a dog that will eat absolutely anything. With more quotable lines than a dozen other movies combined, Snatch is an incredibly entertaining classic.

Streaming on Stan

TV Shows

Billions (Season 2 premiere): The first season of the Stan-exclusive series Billions, starring Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti, may have been a slow burn, but once the show sinks its hooks into you, there’s no other choice but to see it all the way through. And, if you were left hanging by the first season’s gripping finale, you’ll be glad to know that the first episode of the show’s second season is being fast-tracked to Stan early, just in time for the weekend!

Jurassic Park: Just try and read the rest of this description without the Jurassic Park theme getting stuck in your head! Steven Spielberg’s dinosaur classic has landed on Stan, and it’s still an eye-popping marvel of visual effects and terrific set pieces. And, once you’re done with the first film in the series, why not round out JP trilogy with recent Stan additions The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III? So, got that theme song in your head yet? No? Don’t worry – life, uh, finds a way.

Goliath (Season 1): An Amazon Original series starring Billy Bob Thornton, Goliath is about a washed-up lawyer named Billy (Thornton) who agrees to take a case against the biggest and most powerful client of the law firm he helped establish. In this wrongful death lawsuit, Billy and his team uncover a deadly conspiracy and now they find themselves in a life or death trial. All episodes are available on Amazon Prime Video now.
