Kids’s guide business has its #MeToo second

Final week started with the world of kids’s and younger grownup literature celebrating its most prestigious awards, the business’s model of the Oscars. It ended with shock and confusion as commerce teams, literary brokers and a writer broke with a number of best-selling authors over allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct.

The loudest increase landed Thursday afternoon when Random Home stated it might not publish future books by James Dashner, creator of “The Maze Runner,” a dystopian science fiction sequence that turned a movie trilogy.

Dashner has been engaged on his first novel directed at adults, “The Waking,” which has been acquired by Ballantine Books, an imprint of Random Home.
