Empty storefronts = decrease rents?

Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz sees a blessing in all of the empty storefronts within the nation. Retail landlords are starting to chop rents in what Schultz says are prime areas to regulate to what he calls the “new norm.” That’s excellent news for the 14,000-store espresso chain, which opened its first Reserve retailer Tuesday in its dwelling metropolis of Seattle. The rise of e-commerce, resulting in fewer prospects at bodily shops, has pressured many retailers to shut their doorways. So there’s extra room for extra Reserve shops, that are upscale variations of a typical Starbucks and have an Italian-style bakery with the corporate’s new Princi model.
