Govt argues that AT&T-Time Warner deal would harm shoppers

WASHINGTON — The U.S. authorities pleaded its case Monday for blocking AT&T from absorbing Time Warner, saying it might harm shoppers as a giant antitrust trial crept towards its finish and a call by a federal decide.

The $85 billion proposed merger is a “large deal,” Craig Conrath, the lead Justice Division lawyer, mentioned on the final day of the trial in federal courtroom. “It could have an enormous impact on the construction of the pay TV business.”
