Extra airways limit good luggage with lithium batteries

Extra airways have introduced restrictions on baggage with built-in batteries due to a possible fireplace hazard they might create within the cargo space of a airplane.

Two of the world’s largest airways, American and Delta, stated this month that luggage with built-in batteries that can not be eliminated is not going to be allowed as checked baggage beginning Jan. 15.

Since then, United, Southwest, Alaska and Hawaiian Airways have introduced related restrictions.

The actions have been taken due to fear that lithium batteries can ignite fires within the cargo maintain of a airplane.
