News: Legendary Pokémon will soon make their way into Pokémon GO

Pokemon Go Fest Chicago

The Pokémon Company and Niantic have announced that in celebration of Pokémon GO’s first anniversary, Legendary Pokémon will descend into the real world this weekend at the Pokemon GO fest. A new video also showed off some of the new Pokémon that will be introduced into the game. I’ve never felt so inferior.

The video offers an insight into the way trainers will be able to work together to discover, battle, raid, and capture the difficult Legendary Pokémon, as well as revealing new Legendary Pokémon, Articuno, Zapdos, Lugia, Ho-oh and more. There was even a sneaky glimpse of the ever-elusive Mew-Two. I’ll never catch that bugger.

The first Legendary Pokémon will make their appearance at this weekend’s Pokémon GO Fest in Grant Park, Chicago. This’ll only happen if the players in the park and elsewhere in the world catch enough regular Pokémon to unlock the necessary in-game bonuses and, in doing so, unveil the first Legendary Pokémon at Pokemon GO Fest. The likelihood of this happening won’t be too hard an ask, I’m sure of that. If Trainers in Chicago are able to defeat the Legendaries in Chicago, they’ll start appearing in Raid Battles all over the world. So no pressure, Chicago… but don’t you let us down.
