Sega Forever shot

Sega Forever is the new initiative from Sega to bring its old games to your phone. Every game that’s a part of Sega Forever will be available for free, with the option to turn off ads if you fork over $1.99 per game.

Five games will be available at its imminent launch: Sonic The Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Kid Chameleon, Phantasy Star II, and of course, Sonic the Hedgehog. Sega said Sega Forever ‘will include both official emulations and ported games that span all Sega console eras, each adapted specifically for mobile devices while remaining faithful to the original games.’

Sega’s chief marketing officer, Mike Evans, spoke to about bringing some of the company’s back catalogue to mobile, and hinted at a release on Nintendo Switch. ‘It’s a huge project and what I really want to do is get mobile right,’ Evans said. ‘After this, there are options: we can look at desktop, Facebook, we could even take these games to consoles like Switch.’
