Strava health app can reveal navy websites, analysts say

A San Francisco firm’s health app that posts a map of customers’ exercise has unwittingly revealed the areas and habits of navy bases and personnel, together with these of U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria, safety analysts say.

Strava, which calls itself “the social community for athletes,” permits hundreds of thousands of customers to time and map their exercises and to submit them on-line for buddies to see, and it might monitor their actions at different instances. The app is very widespread with younger people who find themselves severe about health, which describes many service members.

Since November, the corporate has revealed a world “warmth map” displaying the actions of people that have made their posts public.
