Commerce dispute escalates with Trump’s $100 billion request

WASHINGTON — President Trump has instructed the U.S. commerce consultant to contemplate slapping a further $100 billion in tariffs on Chinese language items, the White Home stated Thursday, in a dramatic escalation within the commerce dispute between the 2 nations.

The information comes a day after Beijing introduced plans to tax $50 billion in American merchandise, together with soybeans and small plane, in response to a U.S. transfer earlier this week to slap tariffs on $50 billion in Chinese language imports.

The White Home stated Trump had instructed the Workplace of the US Commerce Consultant to contemplate whether or not $100 billion of further tariffs can be applicable and, in that case, to establish which merchandise they need to apply to.
